The name says it all!Many people think of Parkinson's as a disease of old age but there is increasing awareness that it can be found in any age group. Younger people are likely to have some priorities which are different from the concerns of older people with Parkinson's. For example, work, bringing up children, travel, sport, driving and computers all bring distinct challenges - and possibilities. This initiative is for anyone in Lanarkshire with Parkinson's who thinks of themself as 'young' - and their partners, carers, friends and family. The steering group offered some detailed proposals at the launch meeting but there are two central ideas. First, everyone with Parkinson's needs some support sometime. This group can play a big role in identifying what's needed. Second, attitudes can make a big difference. A 'can do' approach and taking some risks can bring great benefits in quality of life. This site will make available copies of the monthly
newsletters, offer useful links to other web sites and link to
articles of interest to our members. Currently, the group meets
once a fortnight at 7pm in Weavers' Cottages, Airdrie. New
members and interested people are always welcome. The next
